JOHN E. BALLAS, CPM® CMCA®
Managing Partner
Prior to the establishment of Ballas and Partners Management Mr. Ballas was Director of Operations for Bowen Property Management. In that capacity Mr. Ballas was responsible for the supervision of the financial and operational performance of the apartment properties in the Company’s portfolio. The portfolio consisted of market-rate and affordable apartments, luxury condominiums and senior independent retirement communities.
Mr. Ballas joined BPMC in May of 1992 and brought with him 15 years of specialty big box and retail management experience. His multi-faceted management experience added to the depth of his knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the property management industry.
Mr. Ballas is actively involved with the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®) and is a Certified Property Manager (CPM®); sat on the Board of Directors of the Multi Family Housing Council of Oregon; is a member of Community Association Institute (CAI) and is a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA®). He is an affiliate member of the Portland Metropolitan Association of Realtors; and holds a real estate brokerage license in both Oregon and Washington.
SUSAN WEST, CMCA® AMS® PCAM®
Partner
As an Equity Partner of BPM, Susan is responsible for business development and company compliance. Before joining the partnership Susan spent 15 years with Bowen Property Management where she ended her tenure as Assistant Director of Operations. During her time with Bowen she was active with IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) where she sat on the education committee and received her ARM® and CPM Candidacy® designations. In 2006 Susan was given the responsibility of forming and building an association management division for Bowen. At that time she became and remains involved with CAI (Community Institute Association), where she is on the education committee and holds her CMCA® (Certified Manager Community Association), AMS® (Association Management Specialist) and PCAM ® (Professional Community Association Manager) designations. Susan’s college background is in business and real estate.
MARA DAVIS, CMCA® AMS ® CAMP®
Partner
As an Equity Partner, Mara Davis is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the BPM portfolio. Mara spent the 7 years with Bowen Property Management as a Portfolio Manager and several years in retail management and customer service prior to joining Ballas and Partners Management. Mara holds a real estate license in the State of Oregon and has her CMCA® (Certified Manager Community Association) and AMS® (Association Management Specialist) designations. Mara was also one of the first to take and pass the CAMP® (Community Association Management Professional) certification with the Oregon Washington Community Association (OWCAM).
MEGAN WEIGEL, CMCA® CAMP®
Senior Portfolio Manager
Megan joined Bowen Property Management in 2006 where she started out as an on-site apartment manager. She was quickly promoted to the condominium management division as an Assistant Portfolio Manager. Megan joined BPM when they branched off from Bowen and was promoted to a Portfolio Manager with her own Portfolio. Before her time at Bowen and BPM, Megan was a student at Western Oregon University where she studied education. During her college years at WOU Megan worked in all facets of employment that focused in customer service which she has been able to carry that experience with her to BPM. In 2010 Megan received her CMCA® (Certified Manager Community Association) designation and is an active member of CAI. Megan was also one of the first to take and pass the CAMP® (Community Association Management Professional) certification with Oregon Washington Community Association (OWCAM). Megan has recently been promoted again to a Senior Portfolio Manager where she will help in the supervision and training of Portfolio Managers.
KIMBERLY THORPE
Accounting Manager
Kimberly received her Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting from Maryville University St. Louis. Kimberly has been in the property management field for the past three years as an Accountant ; joining BPM as we branched off from Bowen to become our Accounting Manager. Five years prior to property management, Kimberly worked in the investment and insurance industry for several years. Kimberly is working towards getting her CMA ( Certified Managerial Accountant) license.
LAURA GOULET
Portfolio Manager
Laura joined BPM in February of 2010. She brought several years’ experience with her as she was in property management working with both garden and high rise communities. Laura’s last assignment was with the Harrison Towers and upon the conversion she and a co-worker started up a single family rental business. In December of 2009 she sold her share in the single family rental company so that she could take a new path in her career. This was fortunate for BPM as we now have the benefit of her vast experience in property management. Laura put together our in house collections processes and procedures, assisted Mara in the management of the BPM portfolio and helped Rick start-up the company safety committee. Laura has now trained other staff to take on the collections and has a small portfolio of her own. Her role with the Civic will be the on-site manager with Megan being her supervisor.
RICK GARCIA
Director of Maintenance
Rick came to Ballas and Partners Management (BPM) with over twenty years of experience in new construction and tenant improvements as well as construction management in both residential and commercial development as well as restoration. Rick is well versed and is experienced in all aspects of facility maintenance including project management of on-site vendors, contractors and in house staff, execution of maintenance plans, maintenance report integration and documentation. Rick is a team player when it comes to customer support and can effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical clients, staff and homeowners. We find Rick's experience, knowledge and personality to be an excellent fit for BPM. Rick’s responsibilities with BPM are to oversee the entire maintenance division ensuring that proper processes and procedures are in place, staffing is assigned appropriately and that training is being given when and where needed. Rick also heads the company safety committee.
LISA RUSSELL
Maintenance Supervisor
Lisa came to BPM with the spin-off from Bowen Property Management back in January of 2010 which now puts her at working with us as a team for almost 12 years. Before her tenure with us she spent several years at Pacific University where she did everything from janitorial, security to maintenance. This well-rounded experience that she brought with her has been instrumental in her success with us. Lisa has again done everything from janitorial to maintenance where she has ended up being one of our more experienced mid and high rise maintenance employees. Lisa also has excellent customer service skills which are how she has such a great rapport with homeowners, tenants and the board members that she works with. |
